Weekly stills - the 5 star Sydney edition

A certain little lady will celebrate her eighth birthday later this week.  She didn't want a big party with all her school friends, which to be honest, suits us just fine, as a little house + lots of giggling girls doesn't really equal fun (for mum and dad anyway).  She did however, have one request.  A night in the big city at a "5 star hotel".   She really is my kind of girl.  Never fear, there will be a small party with our family this weekend to celebrate that wonderous day eight years ago when a little angel joined our world.

1. On the train from Newcastle to Sydney
2. Getting acquainted with the 5 star bed
3. How lucky would you be to go to work every day on a Sydney ferry?
4. Safety first
5. Not ready to leave Luna Park
6. Bright lights
7 & 8. The view down toward the Harbour Bridge and the famous sails of Sydney Opera House.

Weekly stills

I have been working to improve my photography a lot of late.  I have so much to learn, but I have finally found my "thing".  It feels good to have something to be passionate about.  But sometimes, in all the rush of life, I forget to pick up the camera.  So, in the interest of making myself take the time to do something I really enjoy, I thought I would join in a weekly stills group.   Here goes.

1.  We all need to remember this at times.
2.  This pillow makes me happy
3.  Rockabilly rocks
4.  Flowers from poppy
5.  All alone for now
6.  Keeping the bed warm

Here's hoping you all enjoy a lovely week ahead.

Hooray for pupil free day

Sometimes in amongst all the soccer training, physie comps, work, school, homework, housework and the general rush of life a pupil free day really does feel like a "get out of jail free" card.  And when it falls on a late winters day that really feels like spring it's way too good to just sit around at home doing more of the same.  So off to the beach we went and spent a refreshing couple of hours just wasting time.  Just what the doctor ordered.

he - ref'd his first soccer game this week
she - can do the splits

I usually shoot in AV mode, but this week, after attending Tim Coulson's The Nursery, I shot these in manual.  I feel like there is a subtle difference to my photos, they somehow feel warmer to me.  In any case, I am quite happy with the results.

The Nursery was everything I hoped for and more.  If you ever have the chance to go, grab it!

My favourites last week:-

all in a daze
sass and spice
a bit of sunshine
a time to create
